Truly ethical corporation Ben & Jerry’s supports Occupy Wall Street.

As a person who has been occupying Wall street, on and off since night one, I am truly happy to get Ben & Jerry’s support. They have an INCREDIBLE history of treating workers with dignity, using Fair Trade practices, and raising funds for charitable causes. Their Ben and Jerry’s Foundation offers grant money to people and groups who are working towards Social Change. October is Fair Trade month, and they have been committed to Fair Trade since their inception. If you aren’t aware of what Fair Trade is: It’s a real step towards Human Rights and Worker’s Rights in impoverished countries. Millions of children, adults, and elderly workers overseas (and sometimes in America too!) are abused, work 18 hour days, work in unhealthy conditions, and get paid very, very little. Sometimes pennies a day, all while the Corporate share holders make billions. With Ben & Jerry’s committing to Fair Trade, they are committing to only using ingredients that were farmed, or produced by workers who were, well, treated fairly.

If any corporation were to get behind our Occupy Wall Street Revolution, I’m happy it was this one. I think they are the perfect example of how a corporation can operate. I personally love them :) I was even lucky enough to be randomly and magically chosen out of eighty thousand people to wear their Corporate Sponsored dress at Bonnaroo’s first ever eco-fashion show this Summer! Ben & Jerry’s supports my cause, I support theirs!
